When her father died of lung cancer, young Alexandria had to start working as a bartender in a local restaurant to help pay her family’s bills. Despite all he hardship, she earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations at the Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences. As an underdog, she won Democratic Party primary election and eventually the seat in U.S. House of Representatives.
